Week #20 Sat, Oct. 24th –Tues, Oct. 27th 2009 Your FINAL Weekly Bag Winter Shares Farm News It’s been tricky this year. After a September with no rain, we’ve had an October with very little sun. There are just a few more carrots, parsnips, beets & celeriac to pull out of the mud and then we can take a deep breath and reflect some on the season. Thank you. We want to extend special thanks to a number of community members. First, your pick-up site hosts. Thank you very much to Mary & Dave Hedenstrom, Susan Hoch & Jim Haefemeyer, Robin Schow & Greg Bernstein, Laura & Paul Morrill, Janet Peters & Alan Torborg, Joe & Colleen Bartels, Helen Torrens & Jeff Haberer, Amy & Keith Goetzman, Anne Holzinger, Mary & Michael Vanderford, Wendy Fassett & Kevin Mahony, Jim & Karen Fassett-Carman. They are a huge piece of the puzzle and we are grateful. And, speaking of puzzles, thanks to Michele Gersich who very deftly pieced together our harvest/delivery schedule. It’s a big and important job. Thank you. Jess Fisher does a wonderful job with our web site making it useful and informative for our members. Thank you so much. Bob the beekeeper deserves our thanks as well for keeping the pollinators alive and well at the farm – despite the bears. Our story & recipe book project continues and we’d like to thank in particular Marilyn Johnson and Kim Laudert who have been working hard on the writing piece and Kathleen Morton and Claudine Arndt who have been diligently coordinating the recipe testing piece of the project. Thanks as well to the many recipe testers, your contribution is much appreciated. Our Community Events Committee of Sandra Haff, Kate Hage, Erica Perl, Sue Poore, Robin Schow, Helen Torrens and Marian Wright are responsible for bringing the community together to work and eat. They do a very fine job, thank you. Our Core Group of Brenda Beyer, Nancy Dilts, Cathy Dolan, Brian Devore, Wendy Fassett, Jess Fischer, Michelle Grabowski, Marilyn Johnson, Joe Knaeble, Dan Philippon, Katy Podolinsky and Larry Schmidt also deserve a big thank you. They keep the overall picture in mind, nudging us along as we work at building a farm sustainable in a very broad sense. Finally, thank you to our children, Katie, David and Maggie. Their participation in the venture, although not voluntary, is quite generous and very supportive.
