Mark your calendars
for our Harvest Dinner. We’ll celebrate the season with a potluck dinner on Saturday evening, November 3rd at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Minneapolis.
Spring Hill Bags
Please take a look around your house and see if you have any extra Spring Hill bags hanging around. Return them to your pick-up site next time you pick-up a bag! We seem to be running a little short. Thanks!
Vegetable Deliveries
Weekly vegetable deliveries will continue through Tuesday, October 23rd and
Saturday, October 27th. For those who signed up for a winter delivery, we will be in touch about your one time delivery in November.
Farm News
We are still reveling in wonder at all the work that was done at our Fall Work Day yesterday. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came and pitched in. It was really an incredible day. Our valley was at its finest with beautiful color and a breeze to keep us from overheating. We had an ambitious goal of getting all the potatoes dug – which was accomplished! YEA! But not only that, we cleared out the two hoophouses of dead tomato plants, took down the raspberry trellis, rounded up the irrigation pipes, cleaned up a ton of onions (I’m not kidding), sorted garlic for seed, did some perennial flower and vegetable garden clean-up, made enough soup and apple cider for over 120 people (we don’t really know how many, we ran out of name tags at 120), strung chili peppers, painted gourds and even had time for hanging out. It was truly an amazing day and we are so appreciative of all the help we had, particularly from our Community Events Committee who planned the day, the many people that took on leadership roles, my folks who came out a couple of days early to help prepare and keep us fed and Sandy Haff who stayed a couple of days later to clean-up and keep us fed. (We’re much happier when we’re well fed – and we’ve been very happy!) Really, we’re thankful to everyone. It really is a treat to sit back for a moment during the day and take in that work is happening all over the farm, all at once. Then, and I love this, as the work ends and everyone wanders over from various places on the farm an amazing group of people gather for some mighty tasty soup. What could be better than that? Thanks everyone!
